  • Tigers Fall to Pope Prep

    Doug Brown
The MS Tigers softball team lost yesterday to Pope Prep, 13-3. However, the final score doesn't indicate how well the Tigers played. This was the first complete game (6 innings) we have played in many years. This was made possible with a strong outing by pitcher Tate D. Tate pitched a complete game and gave up only one walk. The Tigers also turned three double-plays on the day. Serena, Ruth, Norah, CeCe, and Charlotte K. all played excellent defense for the Tigers.
  • Win Against the Wildcats

On Thursday, March 27th, the Tigers faced off against the 6th grade DCA Wildcats in an exciting middle school softball matchup. The Tigers dominated the game, securing a victory with a final score of 15-4. Tate Dawkins stole the show with an impressive performance that significantly contributed to the Tigers' win. Dawkins accounted for five of the seven outs made during the game, showcasing exceptional skill on the pitching mound. Three of these outs were strike outs, while the other two were defensive plays made from the pitching mound. Beyond the pitching mound, the Tigers displayed a strong team effort and all players stayed engaged in the game. The Tigers' victory was a testament to their hard work and dedication to bounce back after a previous tough loss. The Tigers will play Pope Prep at the River Campus on Wednesday, April 2nd.
  • Loss at Harpeth Hall

The USN Tigers began their game on a promising note, with the first inning and a half showcasing a competitive and tight contest (4-4). However, as the game progressed, defensive issues began to surface, allowing Harpeth Hall to capitalize and significantly extend their lead. Despite the initial strong performance, the Tigers' inability to maintain defensive consistency ultimately led to a challenging outcome. The Tigers lost the game 19-4. The Tigers will regroup at practice and play at DCA on Thursday, March 27th.
  • Thrilling Victory for our 6th Graders!

USN's 6th graders had a thrilling victory over Nashville Catholic, securing a 12-10 win. The game was marked by strong offense, as every player on the USN team reached base via a hit or walk. Cece made her debut behind the plate at catcher and really crushed it! The Tigers' defense also played a crucial role with several outs made at first base, helping to secure the narrow victory. The excitement at the end of the game was something so fun to witness. We hope these players will take this new found confidence with them into their next game!
  • Tough Loss

The Tigers faced a highly talented opponent, CPA, on Thursday, March 20th. Tate, our pitcher, delivered a strong performance, working tirelessly throughout the game. Unfortunately, defensive errors extended the time on the mound and impacted the final outcome. The Tigers lost to CPA 18-4. We will keep our heads up and bounce back after this tough loss.
  • Season Opener

In their season opener at the USN's River Campus, the Tigers faced off against JT Moore Middle School. Despite a final score of 7-11 in favor of JT Moore, the Tigers showcased some impressive moments. They successfully executed a double play and recorded two strikeouts, highlighting their defensive capabilities. However, several mental errors began to hindered their performance, allowing JT Moore to take the lead. The Tigers will need to improve on moving past errors. We will continue to push the importance that no one is going to play perfect and we have to learn to move past mental errors and not allow them to drag throughout the game.
  • The Tigers Find Success

In an exciting matchup, the USN Tigers traveled to Poplar Grove Middle School to face off against the Poplar Grove JV team. The game showcased impressive performances from both sides, with great pitching and big hits from each team. The Tigers demonstrated strong defensive skills, recording three strikeouts and executing a double play. The match highlighted the competitive spirit and skill of both teams, setting a positive tone for future games. The game ended with the USN Tigers on top, 14-9.
  • The 6th Graders Take The Field

Our 6th grade Tigers made a thrilling debut under the lights at Poplar Grove Middle School, facing off against their combined 5th/6th grade team. This exciting matchup marked a fun first experience for our team, filled with promise for the season ahead. The Tigers showcased their skills by stringing together impressive hits and executing solid baserunning, ultimately scoring 10 runs. A highlight of the evening was Charlotte B.'s pitching debut, which hinted at a bright future. With this strong start, our 6th grade team is eager to see what the rest of the season holds.
