Shavon Davis-Louis, Ed.D. will join University School of Nashville as Head of Middle School on July 1, 2023 with more than two decades of experience as an accomplished and dedicated educational leader with a student-centered approach.
The breadth of her background spans PreK through high school, from teaching in the first grade and middle school math to leading school operations at the administrative level. She is an influential instructional leader who keeps self-efficacy at the heart of educational philosophy to integrate technology and diverse instructional strategies that maximize training effectiveness.
She comes to USN from Metro Nashville Public Schools, where the district named her Middle School Principal of the Year in 2021-2022 and she led her school to gain the most significant academic improvement in literacy and math scores among MNPS middle schools. Her track record includes developing and managing academic programs and creating an environment that promotes student success, recruits and retains top faculty, and supports the institution's mission.
Dr. Davis-Louis holds a Doctor of Education with a concentration in Learning Organizations and Strategic Change from Lipscomb University, a Master of Science in Instructional Design & Technology from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Bachelor of Science: in Elementary Education from Alcorn State University. She also earned her Educational Specialist in Instructional Leadership & Supervision at Middle Tennessee State University.
As the educational leader for Grades 5-8, the Head of Middle Schoolsupervises some 65 faculty and 315 students and is responsible for its day-to-day operation by developing and articulating division goals, department goals, course objectives, materials, methods, and means of assessment. Healthy relationships with students, families, faculty, and administrative colleagues are paramount to this position’s success. A high level of professionalism, knowledge, and experience in diversity and inclusion, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail are required.

USN Summer Camps will run Monday, June 2 through Friday, July 11. There will be no camps on Juneteenth or Independence Day. The popular Dog Days of Summer return to the River Campus from Monday, July 21 through Friday, August 1.
