The USN Tigers had a fun, competitive game against the Ensworth Tigers. The USN Tigers pulled out a tough win in three sets: 25-16, 22-25, and 15-10!
The USN Tigers had the opportunity to go up against the Ensworth Tigers Tuesday afternoon. In the first set the USN Tigers showcased their serving and some improved defensive footwork! London Shute ‘31 had another amazing serving set and earned eight aces! Lily Miller ‘31 and Allie Jackson ‘31 each added another two aces to add onto the lead! While the serving was carrying the offensive load, Kensi Kimmel ‘31 had a breakout defensive game. She energized the team by tracking the ball out of bounds to keep the ball in play and made some awesome passes! The USN Tigers earned the first set win, 25-16!
In the second set the USN Tigers struggled finding consistency early and the Ensworth Tigers came out with gusto to get take the lead. London Shute ‘31 and Lily Miller ‘31 each earned an ace and Serena Tanner ‘31 earned two aces. Both Tiger teams were able to keep it close, but both teams had a tough time with serve receive and connecting passes to their setters. The Ensworth Tigers came out with the win 22-25.
Down to the wire. The third set followed suit with points being traded back-and-forth between the two determined teams. Allie Jackson ‘31 contributed offensively with an ace and Margaux Soslow ‘31 added two of her own. Defensively Serena Tanner ‘31 and Ryan Ricks ‘31 showed a lot of leadership as they hustled for each ball and kept the ball in play, which helped give the edge to the USN Tigers! The USN Tigers won a tough third set 15-10!
This team continues to find ways to compete and get better! Their mental fortitude, their belief in each other, and their own skill is so fun to see. While it’s sad to see the end of the season nearing, it only makes you appreciate these moments more. Keep it up Tigers! Good luck in your next game!
Allison Van Konynenburg returns to USN as Interim HS Dean of Teaching and Learning. Taking on additional responsibilities this academic year, Justin Fitzpatrick is now Interim HS Dean for Academic Affairs and Laura Snow is the High School Academic Operations Manager.
