The Tigers showed up offensively and defensively and overpowered the GCA Lions with great serving and awesome energy! They won both sets, 25-12 and 25-19!
The Tigers made the trek out to Franklin to play the Grace Christian Academy Lions on a Friday afternoon. The Lions showed off their skills and talent during their coordinated and smooth warm up, but the Tigers took a more mental approach to the game; focusing upon themselves, their details, and their goals of the match: communication on and off the court, attempting more hits, and making more aces. That internal focus translated into a dominant set from the Tigers. Allie Jackson ‘31 had a great defensive set to Serena Tanner ‘31 for a kill, which brought intensity and energy. Then Allie Jackson ‘31 showed off a new skill, a push set to an open space on the floor for a cool point! Margaux Soslow ‘31 had her first ace of the season. Ryan Ricks ‘31 added two aces of her own and a kill! And Emma Tillman added another ace! But what really energized this team was London Shute ‘31 earning seven aces! The collective team aggression led to a dominant win in the first set 25-12.
In the second set the Tiger’s continued their energy and found strength in various teammates making awesome plays! London Shute ‘31 and Lily Miller ‘31 added three aces each, and then Ryan Ricks ‘31 helped ease the Tigers into their groove with six aces and another kill! Defensively Tula Nye ‘31, London Shute ‘31, and Ryan Ricks ‘31 each had a pair of dime passes! The Tigers collective effort led to another amazing set 25-19.
This team continues to grow and it’s so exciting to see everyone on the team find their moments and shine. As each individual improves their skills and builds their confidence the team will also improve! The Tiger's first home game of the season is Friday September 6th at 4:00pm in the Cheek Gym. Come out and support this awesome team! Go Tigers!
