Cpl. Robert Gibson joined University School of Nashville in November as a School Resource Officer, a certified police officer who is primarily assigned to a school and provides safety and security-related functions, including emergency response, safety training, traffic direction, and patrol functions.
A: I joined the Vanderbilt University Police Department in 2014. During this time, I served as a Community Service Officer I & ll training and Parking Service Officer l & ll training. I also received both CDL and bike certification training. I then transitioned into a School Resource Officer role after undergoing training.
Q: What do you love about your job?
A: I joined law enforcement because I have always been passionate about actively engaging with the community. I am honored to have an opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives, and I enjoy helping educate others.
Q: What is your favorite thing about USN?
A: The student community at USN is very special. It is incredibly rewarding to interact with our students, put a smile on their faces, and show them that officers are human beings as well.
Q: What is something people may not know about you?
A: I love drawing and bike riding in my spare time.
Q: Tell us about your family.
A: I have seven children, and I’m very excited to share that my first grandchild is due in May! I also have two pets and a grand dog.
The boys and girls cross country teams have earned Distinguished Team Academic Awards from the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association for their high GPAs.
USN debaters claimed another championship at their first in-person tournament of the year at the Peach State Classic in Carrollton, Georgia. Congratulations to third-place speaker Madeline Shinohara ‘28, sixth-place speaker Eesha Nachnani ’28, and solo Varsity debater Charles Cook '27.
