HS athletics recaps for August 9-15

Learn how Tiger Athletics did this week, and see what's on the horizon in this week's recap by Athletics Director Josh Scouten.
Girls Soccer
The girls soccer team opened its season on the road at Valor College Prep. Liv O’Hara ‘25 put the Tigers on the board in the second half. Despite this goal and some other bright moments throughout the game, the season's first contest ended in a loss for the Tigers. The team returns to USN River Campus for its first home game of the season on Friday evening against MLK Jr. Magnet. Varsity kicks off at 4:30, and JV follows at approximately 6 p.m.

Volleyball
The Tigers will start the season on the road on Monday, August 19 at Grace Christian Academy. This will be a rematch of two close matches for the Tigers last year in district competition. They continue to compete on the road on Tuesday against the defending state champions from Providence Christian Academy before returning home on Thursday for the first home match of the year against Battle Ground Academy.

Golf
This year’s High School golf season is underway, with the Garnet and Columbia blue-clad Tigers hosting Franklin Road Academy in their first match of the season. The team will return to action on Tuesday at Friendship Christian for its next match, which will feature both teams.

Cross Country -
The High School cross country season is almost here. The Tigers will compete in a 2-mile time trial at USN River Campus on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. against Battle Ground Academy. This will serve as an early season barometer and set the stage for the Saturday Light Fever race in Hendersonville on Saturday, August 24. Come check out the Tiger Harriers in action.

Mountain Biking
The team is in training mode for its first competition of the season in Columbia at Chickasaw Trails. The first of five races on the season will feature a 4-mile loop along the Duck River. This will be one of two locations within an hour of Nashville to catch our mountain bike team in action this season.
